Creating a Character
Unlike many DnD campaigns, mine has a very mature historical narrative. It’s important to me that every character have a close connection with the cultural history of the world. This is why I like the character creation process to be collaborative. If you already know what you’d like to play, please send me some details so I can propose alterations to fit the campaign.
If you have not decided on anything yet, I can help with a few suggestions.
For Chris, I am suggesting that you play a Blae Neachdain , These fun-loving tiny blue men love to drink, cuss, and steal. A Scottish accent is a must. Follow the link to read more about them. If you go this route I’ll help you with the backstory. If you’d like to go more traditional you could play as a Dwarven Duregar.
Michelle, you have said that you like martial classes. Here’s a few fun ideas I can work into the campaign:
- Parker is playing an evil Paladin. You could be assigned to arrest him and return him to justice for crimes committed. You could be a good White Knight (Paladin) or just about any other class as a bounty hunter (even any options discussed below). Aesir (human) race recommended.
- You can play a Tiefling character. Tieflings are not originally from the Nine Realms… they are, literally, aliens there. However, they played an important role in the history of the campaign narrative. I have a pretty interesting story line for this character in my head that still needs to be fleshed out. Follow this link to read about the new Infernari Tieflings, but also see the Fae Folk tieflings. These two groups share a common origin in my campaign, but most Infernari have forgotten about the Fae Folk. A Tiefling character would be an intriguing complement to the party.
- A Ranger could be a good martial option. Rangers are basically the fighter/magic-users of my campain. Their abilities and backstories will vary depending on the race they are paired with. I’d stick with Infernari (Tiefling), Aesir (Human), or Vanir (Elven). I will help you pick or design a Ranger subclass that fits the race you choose. A Ranger would most-likely be part of an all-new faction. Personally I like the Infernari Tiefling Ranger idea the most, because of its plot potential.
- No one is playing a rogue yet… specifically a sneaky type (good at hiding in shadows, opening locks, picking pockets, and that type of thing). Though, this might be a good class for Chris’s character.
- A straight fighter could also work. If you give me some clues about their proposed personality I can work on good options.
- I already have a barbarian so I’d stay away from that.
- You could potentially play a Valkyrie. These women are from a very strict religious/political order. They can exist as a subclass of cleric or a subclass of fighter. They are fervent supporters of Odin and the Aesir. They do not get along well with Black Knights, however, who have a history of violence against them.
Does any of this stimulate you? Once you have selected a concept I’ll send information on the next steps.
